Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician I for the Inpatient Pharmacy. The role is per diem with coverage on weekends, working under the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to ensure high quality patient-focused service.

Required: high school diploma, board registration, and certification within 6 months; 0+ years preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, accuracy, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced hospital setting are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or State equivalency.
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician/Intern with the Board.
  • Certified by PTCB or exCPT within 6 months.
  • Must pass a departmental written exam.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmacy services including preparing and distributing pharmaceuticals.
  • Perform inventory control and maintain records.
  • Offer customer service and respond to inquiries.
  • Operate and monitor pharmacy automated technology systems.
  • Work under supervision of Pharmacist or Technician Supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing pharmacy services which include, but are not limited to, preparing and distributing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control and, providing customer service, maintaining pharmacy records, and operating and monitoring pharmacy automated technology systems,. The Pharmacy Technician I works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and/or the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to ensure delivery of high quality patient focused pharmacy services.

Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician I Department: Inpatient Pharmacy Schedule: Per Diem, every other weekend

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION

Requires a high school diploma (or State accepted equivalency).

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES, & REGISTRATIONS

Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician/Intern with the Board. Must be Certified by examination by a Board approved credentialing program, PTCB or exCPT, within 6 months. Must pass a departmental administered written exam

EXPERIENCE

None required; 6 months – 1 year experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Work requires effective interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with hospital staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, colleagues, and others. Ability to speak the English language, read, interpret and follow complicated verbal and written instruction with precision, accuracy and dependability. Additional language skills (beyond that of English) appropriate to the patient population served is very helpful. Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, including being able to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios/proportions). Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information. Must maintain the required level of competency to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Compensation Range: $25.13- $33.82 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
