Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Pharmacy Technician, Certified to support pharmacists in processing prescriptions, insurance billing, and customer service in a fast paced retail pharmacy. You will assist with inventory, labels, and a variety of duties to ensure accuracy and patient care.

The role requires basic high school education, licensure as a pharmacy technician, and a willingness to obtain vaccination certification if needed. Experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified as a licensed pharmacy technician; must maintain license.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
• Accept new written prescriptions and telephoned refill requests under supervision.
• Contact doctors to take or request refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription medications for dispensing.
• Prepare labels and prescriptions for mailing.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing.
