Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass approved criminal background checks.
• Complete Ohio State Board of Pharmacy approved training program (if required).
• National pharmacy technician certification: PTCB or ExCPT.
• Registered with the OSBP as a certified pharmacy technician.
• Read, write, perform arithmetic calculations and follow verbal or written instructions.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with common office equipment.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with pharmacy, nursing, and other healthcare employees.
• Analytic ability to perform assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications.
• Check for damaged and outdated IV fluids and medications in work area and remove outdated stock.
• Ensure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working order (e.g. crash carts, PARx hand helds, packager, and printers).
• Ensure drugs in Pyxis are in the correct place.
• Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations and IVs.
• Assure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications.
• Train pharmacy technician trainees
• Perform additional duties as assigned
