Job summary

Licking Memorial Health Systems in Newark, Ohio seeks a nationally certified pharmacy technician registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy to assist the pharmacist under supervision. The role covers prepping medications, IVs, ensuring Pyxis and dispensing unit accuracy, maintaining equipment, and upholding safety, storage, and distribution standards while following state and federal laws.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications.
• Check for damaged/outdated IV fluids and medications; remove outdated stock.
• Ensure patient-care equipment is available and in working order (crash carts, PARx handhelds, packager, printers).
• Ensure drugs in Pyxis are stored in correct locations.
• Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations and IVs.
• Ensure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

A motivated, nationally certified pharmacy technician who has registered with the
Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) to work under the supervision of a
Registered Pharmacist in accordance with applicable state and federal laws to
perform a variety of duties assisting the pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications.
• Check for damaged and outdated IV fluids and medications in work area and remove outdated stock.
• Assure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working order (e.g. crash carts, PARx hand helds, packager, and printers).
• Assure drugs in Pyxis in correct place.
• Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations
  and IV's.
• Assure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• 18 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Pass approved criminal background checks
• Completed a Ohio State Board of Pharmacy approved training program
  (if required)
• National pharmacy technician certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)
• Registered with the OSBP as a certified pharmacy technician
• Read, write, perform arithmetic calculations and follow verbal or
  written instructions
• Basic computer skills and other common office equipment.
• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pharmacy, nursing,
  and other healthcare employees.
• Analytic ability to perform assigned tasks.
