Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions and managing inventory within a hospital setting. Evening shift, onsite at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hecktown Oaks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and certifications (CPhT and RPT) upon hire, with preference for 1 year of experience and knowledge of pharmacy automation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPhT and RPT certifications required upon hire.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform basic math.
• Basic computer skills required.
• 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
• Knowledge of inventory control.
• Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
• Knowledge and ability to use pharmacy automation.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescriptions.
• Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure medications are properly labeled, checked by a pharmacist, and dispensed in a timely manner.
• Prioritize workload, stay organized, and coordinate with team members.
• Monitor medication expiration dates and ensure no expired medications are in circulation.
• Maintain records for controlled substances and inventories.
• Communicate drug information requests to a pharmacist.
• Demonstrate competency with pharmacy equipment and duties.
• Answer phones and assist customers promptly.
• Assist with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
• Maintain adequate inventory in designated areas.
