Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center in Oregon seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications. The role requires familiarity with department policies, Joint Commission standards, and accurate charge entry.

Minimum one year of pharmacy experience is preferred; NYS registration and sterile compounding certificate are required for IV room work. Day shift, 40 hours per week, with equal opportunity employer statement.

Qualifications

• At least one year of pharmacy work experience is desired.
• Retail experience preferred for medication historian role.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
• Obtains and maintains knowledge of department policies and procedures as well as Joint Commission medication management standards.
• Performs inventory control duties: rotate stock, replenish stock, audits, monitor for outdates.
• Delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Operates Meditech and Omnicell; troubleshoot equipment issues and discrepancies.
• Enter medication charges in the system accurately.
• Maintain IV room certification: clean IV room and surrounding areas.
• Additional duties may be assigned based on experience and education.

• Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
• Obtains and maintains appropriate knowledge and understanding of the department Policies and Procedures as well as Joint Commission medication management standards.
• Performs essential functions related to inventory control such as rotating stock, replenishing stock, performing medication audits and monitoring for outdates.
• Performs activities as directed in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
• Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Operates computer systems and utilizes technology such as Meditech and Omnicell. May need to troubleshoot issues with equipment and discrepancies.
• Responsible for entering medication charges in system accurately.
• Performs essential functions related to maintaining IV room certification such as cleaning of IV room and surrounding areas.
