The Kokomo YMCA is looking to hire Certified Personal Trainers. Assist with helping members learn to be healthy while they increase their self-esteem and learn life skills such as goal setting and consistency.
Postion Summary:
Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Director and Head Personal Trainer, the Personal Trainer is responsible for providing effective and efficient service to health seekers. Maintain a professional attitude when assisting clients. Make every effort to assist them in attaining their health and wellness goals. Develop and implement Y signature in Healthy Living programs.
- Promote program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations to improve health and wellness.
- Design safe and effective 30 minute to 1 hour personal training programs for individual clients,adapting the strength training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities
- Teach members proper and preferred use of all strength equipment
- Provide individual supervision and enforcement during member’s training sessions
- Assists in the development of member progress reports and wellness programs.
- Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
- Stay up-to-date on certifications and latest concepts, trends and techniques
- Attend mandatory continuing education courses and trainings
- Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
- Create and implement effective exercise regimens.
- Participate in outreach programs under the Healthy Living area of focus
- Monitor Wellness floor to ensure exceptional member experience (I.e. re-rack weights, clean machines, remove trash and debris, replenish towels, logmaintenance issues related to equipment, etc…)
Minimum Qualifications :
- HS Diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Be a certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine(NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or other reputable certification organization.
- Minimum of 1 year Personal Training experience
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Personal Trainer Insurance
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications where necessary.
