Great opportunity for recovery coaches and peers in training to have a voice and make a difference!

Marigold Health is seeking an innovative peer recovery specialist to help individuals find their path to wellness and reduce substance use through a new model of technology-enabled peer support. The position may be full or part-time depending on our needs and your experience. Our app operates 24/7 with shifts from 7 AM to 10 PM.

Marigold Health's mission is to provide every person with a mental health or substance use condition a space to feel heard.

We focus on delivering evidence-based, virtual peer support to those interested in recovery or harm reduction from substance use.

Our program enhances peer work with technology, including automated outreach and digital group discussions. Our mobile app offers multiple avenues for recovery building and community expansion.

What You'll Do
  1. App Chat Moderation & Engagement
  2. Initiate meaningful conversations related to recovery experiences, sharing your personal lived experience to support others.
  3. Identify and engage referring agencies, expanding our resource database.
  4. Oversee chat groups to ensure a safe, on-topic environment, monitoring for hate speech, spam, and inappropriate content in line with Marigold's Code of Conduct.
  5. Review flagged content using NLP alerts and take appropriate action.
  6. Follow up with members regarding violations and involve support teams as needed.

  2. Welcome new members and foster a supportive environment.
  3. Manage member issues, including pausing or removing members when necessary, in coordination with administrators.

Manage a caseload for 1:1 peer support, document interactions per standards, and participate in onsite outreach visits. Engage members primarily via the platform, supplemented by calls, texts, and wellness planning.

What You Have
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist in substance use disorder or mental health recovery in Washington, DC.
  • Reliable internet and private space.
  • Comfort with smartphones, computers, and tools like Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to document engagements electronically.
  • Access to transportation for onsite visits.
  • Willingness to share personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use.
  • Ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed.
  • Experience with wellness or recovery planning.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to member needs.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with digital peer support (e.g., social media) is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Salary: $45,000 - $52,000 annually.
