Job summary

PreventEd is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist I to join our Behavioral Health team in the St. Louis area. This role involves providing peer support to individuals in the community and building recovery connections as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The position is grant-funded, full-time and requires local travel. A CPS credential is required or eligible within 6 months; one year of recovery experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have CPS certification or be eligible within 6 months.
• At least one year in stable recovery.
• Current or former participant in a substance use treatment program.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel locally.
• Willingness to lift up to 25 pounds and perform standing/walking.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support services as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Share lived recovery experiences to inspire and support individuals
• Assist individuals in identifying strengths and personal recovery resources
• Support connections to peers, community resources, and services
• Provide training and education to community members on peer services and resources
• Complete required documentation in compliance with agency, contractual, and funding requirements
• Participate in program planning and coordination
• Perform other related duties as assigned
