Job summary

New Season Treatment Centers is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to provide peer-to-peer support for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. This role integrates patient-centered recovery plans within a multidisciplinary team, leveraging personal recovery experience to inspire hope and guide treatment planning.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher and state certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • GA CPS-AD certification required for this role.
  • Strong interpersonal and empathetic communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in developing problem-solving skills for recovery.
  • Model coping/self-help strategies to individuals or groups.
  • Assist patients with daily decision making and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Help patients identify personal goals for recovery and sobriety.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff to identify supportive programs and environments.
  • Assist patients in creating personal recovery plans.
  • Meet with patients to provide advice aligned with treatment plans.
  • Coordinate patient support groups on a regular basis.
  • Help patients access clinic and community-based services.
  • Encourage participation in healthy social activities and employment opportunities.
  • Observe wellbeing and discuss observations with the patient.
  • Document activities and progress per policy and regulations.

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will provide direct peer-to-peer support services to individuals who have substance abuse or co-occurring disorders. As an advocate for patients, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will be responsible for providing essential expertise and consultation to the entire multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a culture in which each individual's treatment needs and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will draw from his/her journey of recovery to inspire hope and provide support to others who are facing similar situations.

Essential Functions
  • Assists patients in developing problem-solving skills to respond to challenging experiences in their recovery
  • Models effective coping and self-help strategies and techniques to individuals or groups of patients to overcome personal fears, anxieties, urges, and triggers
  • Assists/supports patients in daily decision making, resolution of minor problems, and crisis intervention as necessary
  • Assists patients in identifying their personal goals and objectives for recovery and sobriety
  • Assists clinic staff in a collaborative process of identifying programs and environments that are conducive to recovery
  • Assists patients in creating their personal recovery plans
  • Meets with patients to provide advice and support in accordance with treatment plans
  • Assists/coordinates patient support groups on a regular basis
  • Assists patients in obtaining and utilizing clinic-based and community-based services that support individual recovery needs
  • Assists patients by identifying community resources and encouraging participation, to engage in healthy social activities, employment opportunities or provide other assistance as needed
  • Observes behaviors and evidence of general well-being and discusses observations with the patient
  • Assists patients in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy
  • Ensures timely and appropriate documentation as required by company, state, and federal policy

Essential Position Requirements
  • Education/Licensure/Certification: Have a High School diploma or equivalent with the state-required Peer Recovery certification. Hold a Certified Peer Specialist - Addictive Disease (CPS-AD) certification in the state of Georgia.
