The General Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Banner University Medical Center - BUMC - Phoenix (1111 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85006) provides a solid cardiac foundation that creates an outstanding cardiac nursing assistant who can leverage this experience to advance in areas such as the ICU, Emergency Department, and Operating Room. The General PCU is a 60-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, catering to patients requiring close monitoring and assessment, including those recovering from surgery, with stable cardiac conditions, respiratory illnesses requiring non-invasive ventilation, or transitioning from ICU. Patient ratios are 1:4, with PCA ratios of 1:12 or 1:15 depending on census. PCAs are valued for their critical thinking skills, developed through patient acuity.
As a Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix Cardiac PCU Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will provide routine patient care to promote comfort and contribute to the patient care plan. Responsibilities include data collection, documentation, and unit support functions to ensure efficient operation. You will be a vital team member and collaborate effectively.

University Medical Center Phoenix is a nationally recognized academic medical center focused on clinical care, research, and education. It has over 730 licensed beds, specialty units, and collaborations with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. The campus also includes multi-specialty clinics.
This role involves providing routine patient care, data collection, documentation, and supporting efficient unit operations.
High school diploma/GED, current BLS certification, CNA in state practice, with approximately 1 year of medical clerical or healthcare experience. Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills are required. ECG/EEG interpretation skills and training are preferred.
Additional requirements include maintaining Fingerprint Clearance Cards as specified for certain departments and roles.
Arizona LNA licensure, recent healthcare experience, and completion of an approved unit secretary program are preferred.
