We are seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Technician for TCP Westwood to provide ophthalmic technical support in the patient care area. The role involves conducting tests and procedures to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye and vision conditions, tailored to patients aged 0 to 18 years and adults as necessary.

Key qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of ophthalmic technology, equipment, supplies, and terminology
  • Ability to obtain medical history and perform technical eye exams

Minimum qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience in an ophthalmology or optometry office

Required licenses:

  • COA - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (JCAHPO), or
  • COT - Certified Ophthalmic Technician (JCAHPO), or
  • OPTMTRST - Licensed Optometrist (Texas Optometry Board)

Note: All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing to ensure workplace safety.

Specific duties include:

  • Helping patients and families understand vision conditions and ensuring compliance with treatment
  • Performing maintenance on ophthalmic instruments
  • Obtaining comprehensive ophthalmic histories
  • Participating in quality improvement activities and team meetings
  • Assisting in examining ROP infants in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Coordinating appointments and tracking patient compliance
  • Documenting patient interactions and performing various eye assessments on children and adults
