Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners seeks an Ophthalmic Technician II to support providers with diagnostic procedures and patient care in a busy ophthalmology practice.

On-the-job training toward COA/COT certification is available; prior ophthalmic technician or scribe experience is preferred. You will perform tests, manage eye measurements, and assist with inventory and patient education.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience as ophthalmic technician or scribe required.
  • Experience with EMR tools.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Completion of ophthalmic assistant/technician program preferred (COA/COT).

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and verify information.
  • Conduct visual function tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Use Humphrey field analyzer and OCT for eye measurements.
  • Alert ophthalmologist to changes in visual acuity or issues.
  • Dilate eyes for exams and explain eye care procedures.
  • Explain proper use of eye drops and contact lenses.
  • Assist with inventory management.

Our ideal candidate is already a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician. However, we are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work toward certification. In this role, your primary tasks are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
  • Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
  • Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
  • Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
  • Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
  • Explain how to properly use contact lenses
  • Assist with inventory management
Qualifications
