Job summary

UCI Health in Orange County seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support clinicians with patient exams, measurements, refractions, and pre- and post-procedure care in a fast-paced ophthalmology department.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and age-appropriate acuity levels.
• Experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Current COA certification and BLS certification required by time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary exams: history, visual acuity, intra-ocular pressure, refractions.
• Assist with keratometer readings, visual fields, topography, and axial length measurements.
• Set up and assist with minor ophthalmic procedures and post-treatment instructions.
• Retrive lab and radiology reports and coordinate patient communications.
