Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Chief Ophthalmic Technician and Site Manager, provides clinical and technical support to deliver high-quality outpatient eye care.
  • Performs ophthalmic procedures, prepares patients for examination, and supports efficient, patient-centered clinic operations.
  • Works with a multidisciplinary care team to ensure smooth patient flow and quality care.

Join our ophthalmology team in Stoneham, conveniently located on Main Street (Route 28) just off Route 95 with free on-site parking. This location includes both Comprehensive Ophthalmology (COS) and Retina services, offering opportunities to gain experience across multiple specialties while working alongside a collaborative team of providers and clinical professionals dedicated to exceptional patient care.

This full-time position offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends.

Under the direction of the Chief Ophthalmic Technician and Service/Site Manager, the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides clinical and technical support to facilitate the delivery of high-quality outpatient eye care. This role performs a variety of ophthalmic procedures, prepares patients for examination, and partners with the care team to support an efficient, patient-centered clinic experience.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and maintained in good standing.
Experience
  • At least one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant in a supervised clinical setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting efficient clinic operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
