Job summary

Tennessee Retina seeks energetic and collaborative Ophthalmic Assistants to join our team at multiple locations. The role offers full-time and part-time opportunities and involves patient workups, obtaining histories, and performing diagnostic testing with OCT and Fundus imaging.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma (COA or higher preferred) and 1–2 years of Ophthalmic Technician experience, with strong communication and a proactive, patient-focused attitude.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • COA or higher preferred.
  • 1-2 years ophthalmic technician experience.
  • Knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications.
  • Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with patients and staff.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting paper and electronic medical charts.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high-level critical thinking.
  • Proactive, initiative, and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient workups, obtain histories, and perform diagnostic testing.
  • Assist physicians and have the ability to scribe.
  • Capture images for physicians on OCT and Fundus modalities.
  • Travels to satellite locations.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
  • Maintain clean, stocked rooms and EOC guidelines.
  • Provide general clinic support functions.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-volume practice.
  • Ongoing learning to advance to assist physicians and to scribe.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
