Job summary

Qualifications

  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with COTA or OTA certification.
  • BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic activities and interventions to improve functional abilities, mobility, self-care skills, and independence.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress to the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team.
  • Accurately document treatments, patient progress, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support patient recovery.
  • Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies in a safe and organized manner.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Doctors Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Acute Rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality therapeutic interventions that help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, or surgery.

The ideal candidate is patient-focused, collaborative, and passionate about helping individuals achieve their rehabilitation goals in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Essential Functions:
  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic activities and interventions to improve patients' functional abilities, mobility, self-care skills, and independence.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress to the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team.
  • Accurately document treatments, patient progress, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support patient recovery.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Associate Degree
  • (COTA) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or (OTA) Occupational Therapy Assistant
Schedule:
  • PRN (As Needed)
  • Weekend and holiday availability may be required based on department needs
