Responsibilities

Provide Direct Therapy Services: Deliver occupational therapy services to pediatric students in a school-based setting, supporting their physical, sensory, and cognitive development.

Assessment & Treatment Plans: Conduct thorough assessments to identify students’ occupational therapy needs and collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Collaborate with Team: Work closely with educators, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care and monitor student progress.

Therapeutic Interventions: Implement and adapt therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions to improve students' fine motor skills, mobility, strength, and overall functional abilities.

Document Progress: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Contribute to IEP Meetings: Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing to the development and review of therapy-related educational goals.

Continuous Learning: Stay informed on the latest research, best practices, and advancements in pediatric occupational therapy through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Licensing: Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Ohio.

Experience: Prior experience in pediatric occupational therapy, ideally in a school-based or pediatric setting.

Collaboration Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interactions with students, parents, and staff.

Knowledge of Special Education: Familiarity with special education laws and regulations, especially those relating to therapy services in school settings (preferred).

Time Management: Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time to meet the diverse needs of pediatric students.
