Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Job Summary:

The occupational therapy assistant performs patient-related activities. Services may include but are not limited to purposeful activities or interventions to maximize the independence and the maintenance of health of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a cognitive impairment, a psychosocial dysfunction, a mental illness, a developmental or learning disability, or an adverse environmental condition.

Major Duties and Critical Tasks:

• Assisting the occupational therapist when performing tests, evaluation, and complex treatment procedures
• Observing, recording, and reporting to the therapist the condition, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties
• Assisting the therapist in consulting with patients, family members, and other health care professionals as appropriate
• Assisting with the care of the occupational therapy department and equipment
• Assisting the occupational therapist with in-service programs and other meetings as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification
• High School Diploma/GED Required
• Strong Interpersonal Skills
