Responsibilities

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in patient rehabilitation and care, assisting individuals with various physical, mental, or emotional conditions. The primary goal of a COTA is to help patients develop, recover, improve, and maintain skills necessary for daily living and working. Key responsibilities include:

1. Patient Care Execution: Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, execute therapeutic plans, teach patients to use adaptive equipment, guide exercises, and engage patients in activities essential for their recovery.
2. Activity and Program Planning: Contribute to planning and selecting therapeutic activities tailored to each patient's needs and interests, aligning with the goals set by the occupational therapist.
3. Progress Monitoring: Regularly observe, document, and report patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
4. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families about therapy processes, adaptive equipment, and home modifications to support ongoing recovery and independence.
