Award Care in Jacksonville is seeking Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants to join our family on a PRN basis. You will support residents under the supervision of a licensed OT.

You'll help patients improve independence with daily living activities, document progress, and participate in care planning. CPR certification and active COTA licensure are required.

This role emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and maintaining a safe environment in a skilled nursing setting.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of three months recent experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapist working in a nursing home environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides rehabilitative services to residents under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
  • Follows treatment plans and teaches techniques to improve independence.
  • Maintains patient records and progress notes.
  • Generates revenues by recording billing information for services rendered.

Open positions: PRN

PRN -starts at $35 an hour - based on years of experience.

Major Responsibilities
  • Helps occupational therapy Residents by providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.
  • Provides services under the direction of licensed occupational therapist.
  • Verifies client information by interviewing client, reviewing, and recording medical history, confirming purpose of treatment.
  • Helps Residents improve their quality of life by helping them compensate for limitations, such as, helping injured workers improve their motor skills and re-enter the labor force, and teaching persons with learning disabilities to prepare meals or to use public transportation and increase their independence.
  • Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as, the proper method of moving from a bed into a wheelchair, and the best ways to stretch and limber muscles.
  • Monitors activities to make sure they are performed correctly and provides encouragement, bringing treatment that is not having the intended effect to the attention of the therapist.
  • Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording client’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
  • Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in practicing state and/or nationally certified.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of three months recent experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapist working in a nursing home environment preferred.
