Role Description

This Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) role is anon-site, school-based position in the Fresno, CA area. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA will implement occupational therapy interventions designed to support students with fine motor development, sensory processing, visual-motor skills, self-care, motor coordination, and functional independence.

Day-to-day responsibilities include providing individual and/or group Occupational Therapy services according to established treatment plans and IEP goals, documenting student progress, preparing therapeutic activities and materials, and communicating observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist. The COTA will also collaborate with teachers, families, special education professionals, and interdisciplinary team members to help students participate successfully in their educational environment.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
• Current California Occupational Therapy Assistant license or eligibility for California licensure.
• Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), as applicable.
• Strong knowledge of Occupational Therapy interventions and the ability to implement treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Experience or interest inpediatric and school-based Occupational Therapy.
• Knowledge of fine motor development, sensory processing, visual-motor skills, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and functional independence.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, families, educators, special education teams, Occupational Therapists, and other interdisciplinary professionals.
• Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), school-based therapy services, and special education processes is beneficial.
• Experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, sensory needs, and diverse learning needs is beneficial.
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in therapy documentation and progress reporting.
• Ability to work with diverse populations using culturally responsive and inclusive practices.
• CPR/First Aid certification and previous school-based or pediatric Occupational Therapy experience are beneficial.
