PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (C.O.T.A./L.) assists the Registered Occupational Therapist (O.T.R.) in providing rehabilitation therapy to patients of all ages with physical and psychosocial disabilities. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans through activities of daily living, manual and creative skills, educational, recreational activities, and developmental skills tailored to patient needs. The goal is to improve physical function and promote mental adjustment.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/CONDITIONS
Involves bending, stooping, lifting patients and equipment, pushing wheelchairs and stretchers, adjusting equipment, and remaining alert to patient reactions. Ability to work under pressure occasionally.
Special Demands
Desire to work with individuals with disabilities, knowledge of medical terminology, arts and crafts skills, good judgment, confidentiality, and versatility in patient care are essential.
Qualifications
Supervision: Supervised by a Registered Occupational Therapist.
Supervised Staff: Occupational Therapy Rehab Aide, Volunteers, Technicians.
