Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to support daytime occupational therapy services in a skilled nursing setting in Delano, CA. You will assist with assessments, care planning, and direct treatment under supervision, helping residents regain independence.

The role requires a state-licensed COTA, strong communication, and knowledge of current guidelines. Expect a team-centered, patient-focused environment with flexible scheduling and meaningful growth

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma is required.
• Must be a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in the practicing state.
• Experience in long term care or skilled nursing is preferred.
• Possess effective communication skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers and agencies.
• Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Meets resident goals by assisting in evaluations and interpreting results; helps determine occupational therapy treatment plans.
• Maintain productivity as set forth by leadership.
• Assist residents in developing or regaining functions through programs for ADLs, sensorimotor tasks, and related activities; supervise aides and assistants.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Description

Responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist and/or supervisor in the overall day to day operations of occupational therapy services of the center. Provides assistance in coordination with other divisions, departments and nursing staff to ensure that quality care is provided and to support the goals and objectives of the company. Promotes wellness through the assistance of completion of patient assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload.

Principal Responsibilities

• Meets the resident’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assisting in the assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
• Maintain productivity as set forth by the Director of Rehabilitation and/or Regional Director.
• Helps residents develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by assisting in the implementation of programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities; directing aides, technicians, and assistants.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice.
