Job description

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (Healthcare)

Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board regulations. Follow the physician treatment plan. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Document evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, recertification, and treatment changes according to Occupational Therapy Board, state, and third-party requirements. Instruct patients' families and nursing staff in maintenance and caregiver training for discharge. Participate in discharge planning. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Report equipment issues to ensure proper functioning. Maintain positive, effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues. This position is non-supervisory.

Qualifications:

• Licensed as a Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant by the State Board.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Casamba and Point Click Care.
• Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
• Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Problem-solving and interpretive skills for practical instructions.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state; must maintain license in good standing.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull, talk, hear, and perform physical tasks as described.
• Work environment typically low to moderate noise level.
