Position Overview

The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and direct patient care.

Salary: Starting at $40.00 an hour

Essential Duties

• Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
• Participate in in-services training programs for staff in the facility.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, per Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and governmental and third-party payer requirements.
• Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
• Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
• Report any problems with department equipment to ensure proper maintenance.
• Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the State Board.

Computer Skills: Proficient in inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state. Must meet continuing education requirements per state practices and maintain a license in good standing with the state board.
