Description

Basic Function

The positions provides rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. To improve patient’s quality of life by helping that person compensate for his/her limitations. Nature and Scope

The position will report to the Director of Rehabilitation responsible for the facility(s) or area(s) of service. The scope of care can include patients form pediatric to geriatric.

Principal Job Responsibilities

  1. Meet company guidelines by maintaining company established productivity levels.
  2. Performs a variety of techniques to improve function, tone, strength, ROM, balance, etc. outlined in a treatment plan developed in collaboration with an Occupational Therapist.
  3. Utilizes positioning as a technique to prevent or deduce deformities and/or promote function.
  4. Records the patient’s responses to treatment and reports to the Occupational Therapist the outcome of each treatment.
  5. Prepare materials and assemble equipment used during treatment.
  6. Follows all state regulations for and maintains current licensure.
  7. Provides written documentation in accordance with accepted professional standards, company standards, and all State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.
  8. Enters all pertinent documentation into the patient progress notes in a timely manner per department and facility(s) policy.
  9. Ensures timely and accurate reporting for billing of all services provided.
  10. Maintains good working relationship with facility(s) staff/customers.
  11. Follows company expectations in regards to HIPAA/Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
  12. Adheres with Medicare Final Local Medical Review Policy for discipline specific guidelines.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience preferred
  • Must have current unrestricted professional license to practice
  • Associate’s Degree in a Certified Occupational Therapist Program from an accredited school
  • Must possess excellent organizational, time management, and leadership abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

Physical Requirements

  • Job duties are generally performed in a clean and well-equipped area with uniform temperatures and normal noise levels
  • Work alternates between sitting and standing with mobility necessary
  • Average sight, talking, hearing, and touching are necessary
  • Ability to lift, turn, move, position and/or transport patient in/out of bed, chair, wheelchair with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a threat to health or safety of him/herself or others, including patients, their families, and co-workers
  • Must be able to drive between facilities and specific locations as needed
  • Ability to administer CPR

Exposure

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will have close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood or bodily fluids.
