Job summary

Nexus Health in Berwyn, IL is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our skilled nursing team. You will plan and administer treatment programs for residents with a focus on relieving pain and improving function under supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

The role emphasizes educating residents and families, maintaining accurate documentation, and delivering evidence-based interventions.

Qualifications

• Prior SNF/long-term care experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of current treatment practices and therapies.
• Familiarity with Net Health or similar electronic documentation systems preferred.
• Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload with professionalism and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Plan and administer treatment programs for residents with temporary or long-term disabilities to relieve pain and improve function.
• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
• Educate residents, families, and staff regarding goals, techniques, and outcomes.
• Demonstrate competent technical skills aligned with COTA standards of practice.
• Monitor patient response and communicate changes to the supervising OT.
• Ensure accurate documentation and billing in compliance with facility and regulatory requirements.

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Responsibilities:

• Plan and administer treatment programs for residents and patients with temporary or long-term disabilities to relieve pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing.
• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions in accordance with physician orders and the established plan of care, under the supervision of the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Educate residents, families, and staff regarding therapy goals, techniques, and outcomes.
• Demonstrate competent technical skills consistent with current COTA standards of practice.
• Monitor patient response to treatment interventions and promptly communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation and billing in compliance with facility and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of current treatment practices and therapy interventions.
