Job summary

Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital in Austin, TX, seeks a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will assist with therapeutic interventions, document care, and support compliance in a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation setting.

You will communicate progress with the occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team, educate families, and help with scheduling and charges. Active TX COTA license and CPR are required.

Qualifications

  • Licensed and eligible to practice as a COTA in the state where services are rendered.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
  • Document patient care accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support therapy interventions and compliant documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling and post-treatment charges to patient records.
  • Maintain equipment and treatment areas in a clean, safe condition.
  • Communicate patient progress to the supervising OT and team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

How you’ll contribute

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of an occupational therapist, assisting with therapeutic interventions and documentation while supporting quality and compliance standards in rehabilitation services.

Essential Functions
  • Communicate patient progress or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team.
  • Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in follow-through programs and home exercises.
  • Assist with patient scheduling and post treatment charges to patient records daily.
  • Document patient care accurately and in accordance with all regulatory, licensing, payer, and accrediting requirements.
  • Maintain treatment equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, Corporate Compliance Agreement, and applicable laws and professional standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
  • Must demonstrate strong communication, time management, and clinical documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.
