Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant - Alhambra Area

Join Savant Senior Living as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in the Alhambra area.

Job Summary

The certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) contracted through the organization reports to the registered occupational therapist. They are responsible for implementing standards of care for occupational therapy services and adhering to all conditions outlined in the Service Agreement. The COTA performs services that are planned, delegated, and supervised by the registered occupational therapist.

Essential Responsibilities

• Participate in evaluating patients' functional status and home environment for hazards, as delegated by the registered occupational therapist.
• Assist in teaching new skills or retraining patients in daily activities affected by illness or injury.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and report any changes in patient condition to the supervising therapist.
• Follow treatment plans and document patient responses and progress.
• Coordinate with other healthcare personnel involved in patient care and document communications.
• Attend inservices, case conferences, and meetings to ensure coordinated care.
• Identify patient and family needs for additional services and assist with referrals.
• Educate patients' families and healthcare staff about treatment regimes as delegated.

Position Details

Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Supervision: Supervised by the registered occupational therapist at least every 30 days, with ongoing communication documented in the patient’s clinical record.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Certified by the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Licensed as an occupational therapy assistant by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
• At least one year of clinical experience as a COTA.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, organized, and current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle in good condition.

Compensation

Pay rate: $65 per visit
