Job Description Summary

The certified occupational therapy assistant contracted through the Organization is responsible to the registered occupational therapist for implementing standards of care for occupational therapy services and adhering to all conditions outlined in the Service Agreement. The assistant performs services that are planned, delegated, and supervised by the registered occupational therapist.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
  1. Participates in evaluating patients' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, communication skills, self-care, and work capacity, as delegated by the registered occupational therapist.
  2. Evaluates the home environment for hazards or barriers to independent living, as delegated by the registered occupational therapist.
  3. Teaches new skills or retrains patients in daily activities affected by illness or injury, according to organizational policy.
  4. Maintains clinical records, notes, and reports any changes in the patient's condition to the registered occupational therapist.
  5. Submits clinical documentation following organizational policies.
  6. Follows treatment plans and goals for improving patient function as established by the registered occupational therapist, and documents responses and progress.
  7. Communicates with other care team members to ensure coordinated care, documenting all communication per policy.
  8. Attends and contributes to inservices, case conferences, and meetings to support coordinated patient care.
  9. Identifies patient and family needs for additional home care services, consulting with the supervising therapist for referrals.
  10. Instructs patients' families and other healthcare personnel in treatment regimes as delegated.
Position Details

Job Title/Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

  1. Supervised by a registered occupational therapist at least every thirty days, with documentation reflecting ongoing communication, patient condition, response to services, and plan adjustments.

Position Qualifications
  • Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Certified by the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Licensed as an occupational therapy assistant by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • At least one year of clinical experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant.
  • Good verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with a vehicle in good condition and insured per organizational requirements.
Compensation

Pay rate: $65 per visit
