Emerald Healthcare in Cozad, NE is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide rehabilitative services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You will help residents improve functional abilities and support therapy planning across the facility.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in OT, active COTA license, and SNF experience preferred. You will document treatments, collaborate with the rehab team, and ensure compliance with CMS standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in occupational therapy required.
• Actively Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of practice required.
• Graduation from an accredited OTA program.
• Valid state license/certification.
• Skilled Nursing Facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities according to the Occupational Therapist care plan.
• Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily treatments.
• Assist with ADL retraining, mobility, and cognitive stimulation.
• Prepare and clean the therapy area and equipment.
• Conduct regular screening of residents to determine best intervention.
• Perform treatment plans following the established care plan.
• Interpret and communicate evaluation findings and recommendations to residents and families.
• Establish individual resident therapy schedules with the team.
• Ensure therapy is delivered and billed according to plan.
• Comply with CMS documentation standards daily.

Education

Job Summary

At Emerald Healthcare & Rehab Cozad, The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides rehabilitative services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to assist residents in improving functional abilities. This position assists with planning, organizing, developing, and directing Occupational Therapy Services in the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure that highest degree of quality resident care.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities according to the Occupational Therapist care plan.
• Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily treatments.
• Assist with ADL retraining, mobility, and cognitive stimulation.
• Prepare and clean the therapy area and equipment.
• Conduct regular screening of residents to figure out the best intervention or treatment for each individual patient based off scope of practice.
• Perform treatment plan to residents; follow short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve goals based off the established plan of care by supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Interpret and communicate evaluation findings, treatment plans, and recommendations to residents, families/caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Establish individual resident therapy schedules in cooperation with other team members.
• Conduct therapy according to established treatment plan and ensure proper documentation and billing of occupational therapy services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and as required to effectively treat the residents.
• Comply with all CMS documentation standards of practice daily with point of care documentations as indicated.
