Emerald Nursing & Rehab Cozad is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide rehabilitative services under an OT's supervision, helping residents improve functional abilities within a skilled nursing setting.

You will plan, organize, and direct OT services in accordance with standards and regulations, ensuring high-quality resident care and accurate documentation across shifts.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in occupational therapy required.
• Actively Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of practice required.
• Graduation from an accredited OTA program.
• Valid state license/certification.
• Skilled Nursing Facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities according to the Occupational Therapist care plan.
• Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily treatments.
• Assist with ADL retraining, mobility, and cognitive stimulation.
• Prepare and clean the therapy area and equipment.
• Conduct regular screening of residents to identify best intervention.
• Follow treatment plans and document progress.
• Communicate findings to residents, families, and team members.
• Set therapy schedules with the team and residents.
• Ensure billing and documentation compliance for OT services.
• Perform other duties to effectively treat residents.

Job Summary

At Emerald Healthcare & Rehab Cozad, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides rehabilitative services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to assist residents in improving functional abilities.

This position assists with planning, organizing, developing, and directing Occupational Therapy Services in the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure that highest degree of quality resident care.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities according to the Occupational Therapist care plan.
• Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily treatments.
• Assist with ADL retraining, mobility, and cognitive stimulation.
• Prepare and clean the therapy area and equipment.
• Conduct regular screening of residents to figure out the best intervention or treatment for each individual patient based off scope of practice.
• Perform treatment plan to residents; follow short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve goals based off the established plan of care by supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Interpret and communicate evaluation findings, treatment plans, and recommendations to residents, families/caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Establish individual resident therapy schedules in cooperation with other team members.
• Conduct therapy according to established treatment plan and ensure proper documentation and billing of occupational therapy services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and as required to effectively treat the residents.
• Comply with all CMS documentation standards of practice daily with point of care documentations as indicated.

Physical/Emotional/Mental Demands

• Sit moderately, stand and walk frequently.

• Use hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
