St. Joseph County ISD in Centreville, Michigan seeks a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join the school-based therapy team.

You will deliver therapeutic treatments under the supervision of the occupational therapist, maintain student records, and support equipment needs for students with IEPC schedules. The ideal candidate holds an OTA program credential (associate degree or 60 credits), NBCOT certification, and a Michigan COTA license.

Formación

• Completion of an accredited OTA program with an Associate's degree or at least 60 college credits.
• NBCOT Certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
• COTA license from the Michigan LARA.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required training and documentation.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and attend on-site daily.

Responsabilidades

• Perform therapeutic treatments under supervision of the occupational therapist.
• Maintain and file records of student contact and evaluations.
• Evaluate and adjust students' equipment and splints.
• Maintain and purchase department equipment.
• Prepare treatment areas and equipment.
• Research and order new equipment as needed.
• Prepare physician prescriptions yearly and update.
• Repair and maintain equipment.
• Observe progress and report recommendations to therapist.
• Document progress toward objectives for each student.
• Communicate student status to family, teachers, and other professionals.
• Schedule students according to IEPC times.
• Educate teachers and families about occupational therapy.
• Attend IEP meetings and make referrals as needed.
• Demonstrate professional work ethic; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, resulting in an Associate's degree or at least 60 college credits.
• Requires Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• A valid COTA license from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
• Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
• Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
• Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform therapeutic treatments as outlined and under the guidance of the occupational therapist.
• Maintain records and reports regarding contact and evaluations with students and other providers.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust students' equipment/splints appropriately.
• Maintain therapy equipment and purchase appropriate equipment for department.
• Prepare treatment areas and equipment for treatment.
• Research and order new equipment, as needed, for treatment.
• Prepare physician prescriptions at beginning of every year and keep updated throughout the year.
• Repair, adjust, adapt, clean, and maintain equipment.
• Observe child's progress and report to therapist with suggestions for treatment advancement.
• Appropriately documents progress toward identified objectives.
• Communicate student status and needs to the student, the student's family, teachers, and other professionals.
• Maintain therapy files on each child which includes student data, goals, objectives, and progress/assessment reports.
• Schedule children according to times listed on the child's IEPC.
• Keep student attendance/Medicaid records.
• Educate teachers, other professionals, and family members about occupational therapy.
• Attend IEP’s and necessary meetings.
• Make appropriate referrals to other members of the educational support team.
• Exhibit positive personal, professional, work ethic and high motivation through consistent demonstration of professional work behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD administrators.

REPORTS TO: Special Education Supervisor

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Special Education Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 191-day position. Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $29,406 to $40,904 Per Year
