The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists the Registered Nurse (RN) in providing patient and family centered care that is safe, efficient, timely and effective. The CNA performs patient care under the direct supervision of an RN. Tasks assigned are predictable, do not require independent assessment or decision-making, and pose no risk to the patient.
Works in a well-lit, ventilated area. Must meet annual safety and health-testing requirements. Adheres to universal precautions due to frequent patient contact. Requires visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical activities include stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 25 pounds), standing, walking, stretching, and reaching. May be required to lift heavy objects.
