Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Mountainside location. This role supports Registered Nurses in daily patient care, including vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients.

The position requires NJ CNA certification and AHA BLS. Shift is evenings, Monday–Friday 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with every other weekend and some holidays.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant in NJ.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Willingness to work evenings and be part of a patient care team.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide nursing care, including vital signs.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RNs.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
• Follow infection control protocols and safety practices.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, , assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning
