Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Mountainside, NJ is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support our Long Term Care nursing team and provide compassionate patient care.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, document in the EHR, and follow infection control protocols while coordinating care with RNs. The role requires a current NJ CNA and BLS certification, with a 4-day 5:00–10:00 schedule, every other weekend and some holidays.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant in NJ.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Work schedule includes 4 days from 5am to 10am with every other weekend and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and provide nursing care including vital signs, mobility, and personal care.
• Monitor vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature) and document in the EHR.
• Document patient information accurately in EHR and maintain confidentiality.
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
• Apply Basic Life Support (BLS) skills in emergency situations.
• Support patient care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitions.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, , assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning
