About the Unit:

Werner Cancer Hospital Med-Surg Oncology, or WMSO: This 36-bed med-surg unit in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center serves a wide variety of medical and surgical oncology and acute care patients with a 1 to 4 or 1 to 5 nurse-to-patient ratio. Services include general oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and a select group of hospitalists.

Qualifications:

Certified Nursing Assistant:

• Minimum age: 16 years
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Nebraska required
• Effective communication skills required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required within 30 days of hire

Nursing Assistant:

• Minimum age: 18 years
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Six months of patient care experience or enrollment in a nursing program required
• Effective communication skills required
• BLS certification from AHA required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Computer data entry and word processing skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Direct patient care experience
