Position Summary

Sovah Health in Danville, VA, is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant-Night shift to join our team (7p - 7a & EOW).

The CNA will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician. Provide personal care and comfort, assist with safe, clean environment, maintains equipment and supplies. Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.

• Under the supervision of an RN, perform basic patient care activities.
• Monitor vital signs, blood glucose measurements and record intake and output.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assist with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Assist patients in the use of toilet facilities, including bedpans.
• Assist patients with ambulation, including using walkers and wheelchairs, when applicable.
• Assist patients with feeding when needed.
• Assist patient with fluid intake, measure and record fluid intake and output as directed.
• Reposition patient as appropriate.
• Check diapers and underpads with each position change and ensure patient cleanliness; provide linen changes as needed.
• Utilize proper patient identification system, i.e., two patient identifiers.

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Required Certifications/Licenses

• American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider required.
• Registration on the Virginia Board of Nursing Aide Registry is required.

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.

Minimum Work Experience

• One (1) year as a CNA, Respiratory Care Assistant, Rehab Tech, Certified Medical Assistant, EKG Tech, EMT, Phlebotomist, or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
