Job summary
Mercyhealth in Wisconsin is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Medical Unit during the night shift. You will provide hands-on patient care, support clinical staff, and help maintain a safe, clean environment across units.
The role requires CNA certification, CPR/BLS within 90 days, and a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and timely communication. The schedule is 20 hours per week with night shifts and opportunities for professional development.
Qualifications
- Completion of a CNA program.
- Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
- Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Documents care provided according to standards.
- Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
- Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
- Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
- Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator
- Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel
- Bladder scanning procedure reviewed
- Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency)
- Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor
- Managing and reporting collection devices:
- Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures
- Indwelling catheters: care and output measures
- Nasogastric tubes to suction
- Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN
- Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN.
- Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:
- Nasogastric tubes
- Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters
- Similar devices as appropriate
