North Valley Hospital District is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for our Long Term Care Facility in Washington. The role delivers compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting daily living, mobility, and dignity in a home-like setting.

The CNA collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, maintains records, and advocates for residents’ wellbeing while following safety and infection control protocols. PT non-exempt position with base pay hourly.

Description

Position Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, hands-on care to residents of North Valley Hospital District's Long Term Care Facility. This role is vital in supporting residents’ daily living needs and ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. Working in a collaborative and mission-driven environment, the CNA assists residents with personal care, mobility, and other essential activities, creating a safe and supportive home-like setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

Resident Care:

• Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
• Provide mobility support, including transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
• Monitor and promptly report changes in residents’ physical or emotional conditions to the Charge Nurse.

Clinical Support:

• Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Collect and record patient data such as weights, measures, inputs, and outputs.
• Assist with range-of-motion exercises and other therapeutic activities as directed.
• Support residents during meals, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow all infection control procedures and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Assist in maintaining a sanitary and organized living area, including making beds and tidying personal spaces.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including resident rights and confidentiality.

Communication and Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided in residents’ records.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide updates during shift changes to ensure continuity of care.

Resident Advocacy and Engagement:

• Foster a positive and respectful environment, supporting residents’ emotional and social needs.
• Encourage resident participation in activities and programs to promote well-being and community involvement.
• Serve as a trusted advocate, ensuring residents feel heard and valued.

• Effectively collaborates with peers and team members, using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
• Demonstrates leadership responsibility and skills, including planning and completing duties with minimal directions from the supervisor when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned, provided skills, abilities, and qualifications are appropriate and sufficient training is provided.

Requirements

Education and Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Washington.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships with residents, staff, and families.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach to caregiving.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer knowledge and experience with healthcare systems or related training.
