Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado in Highlands Ranch is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patients with personal care, comfort, and vital sign monitoring in the South Campus Inpatient Unit.

You will assist nursing staff, document care, transport patients, and communicate patient needs to the medical team, with daily rounds and collaboration across disciplines. Parts-time days, weekend rotation, and continuing education benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required.
  • CNA/MA/EMT licenses required.
  • Equivalency option: health assessment and nursing foundation courses may substitute for CNA/MA/EMT designation.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to patients' personal care, grooming, bathing, feeding, and comfort; communicate needs to the healthcare team.
  • Check vital signs, weigh patients, apply creams/ointments, dressings, and collect specimens.
  • Transport patients and prepare rooms/equipment; document actions in logs and reports.
  • Serve as a conduit between patients and providers by reporting observations to the medical team.

Job description

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CA) assists patients and families by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs. The CA provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring. In addition, the CA supports and assists nursing personnel and other providers in diagnostic procedures and technical treatments and functions as a member of the healthcare team.

The South Campus Inpatient Unit located in Highlands Ranch offers a wide range of expert pediatric care primarily including patients post surgical care and patients with general medical acute care needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Attends to the individual needs of patients, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, providing comfort and communicating patient needs with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs various tasks as assigned, including checking vital signs, weighing patients, applying creams/ointments, applying/changing dressings and collecting specimens.
  • Meets patient needs by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to healthcare team members.
  • Serves as a conduit between patients and other healthcare providers by recording and communicating all issues to medical team members.
  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Stores and prepares rooms and medical equipment for patient and healthcare team member use.
  • Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.
Schedule

Part Time (2 - 12hr shifts per week)

Shift

Days (6:45am - 7:15pm)

Weekends and Holidays

every third weekend rotation and rotating holiday schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Equivalency
    • Proof of successful completion of health assessment and nursing foundation courses, in addition to basic medical/surgical clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program may be considered in lieu of designation as a CNA, MA and/or EMT.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
    • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license is required.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $19.18 to $28.77

Expected Range: $20.25 - $28.77
