Job summary

Novant Health's New Hanover Regional Medical Center NICCU unit is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant for a full-time day shift (7am-7pm) with a shift differential for 2:30pm-7pm. You will provide patient-centered care, assist with daily activities, and collaborate with nurses and providers in a fast-paced environment.

Education: HS Diploma or GED; NA I registration; Medication Safety; 1 year experience preferred; Assisted Living experience may be required. Tuition reimbursement is available.

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by using clinical experience to anticipate needs and promote comfort and dignity during each patient’s stay.
• Serve as a trusted partner to nurses and providers, sharing observations and supporting care plans in a fast-paced environment.
• Guide safe mobility and recovery efforts, assist with ambulation, repositioning, and fall-prevention practices.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of vitals and patient status to support clinical decision-making.
• Foster a calm, supportive environment for patients and families, offering reassurance and setting expectations.

• Guide safe mobility and recovery efforts, drawing on your expertise to assist with ambulation, repositioning, and fall‑prevention practices that keep patients progressing safely.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of vitals and patient status, contributing reliable information that strengthens communication and supports excellent clinical decision‑making.
• Foster a calm, supportive environment for patients and families, using your experience to offer reassurance, set expectations, and help others feel grounded during challenging moments.
• Provides and documents assistance to patients with activities of daily living and maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assisted Living units only: Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living as scheduled and reporting any change in status to the Charge Nurse

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience:
  • One year preferred.
  • One year Assisted Living facilities only: experience working in long-term care or assisted living, required.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Completion of NAI program, required.
  • Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I, required.
  • Medication Safety - AME, required.
  • NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
• Additional Skills (preferred): Basic computer skills for documentation.
