Job summary

Legacy Health in Portland is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join an interprofessional team focused on patient and family-centered care. You will assist licensed nurses, participate in developing and implementing plans of care, and help maintain a safe, clean environment throughout the hospital.

Responsible for assisting licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. Participates as a member of the health care team under the direction of a licensed nurse as defined by Standards and Authorized Duties for Certified Nursing Assistants (OAR 851-63-0010 - 0060, 0080, 0090) or Nursing Assistants (WAC 246-841-400, 405). Also assists with clerical functions, housekeeping, and patient transportation throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provides care delegated and supervised by a registered nurse to meet the needs of clients determined by condition, development and age defined by Department Specific Addendum.
• Participates in the development and implementation of the plan of care as delegated.
• Organizes and adapts plan of care with consideration for patient/client’s needs, desires and routines.
• Demonstrates awareness and reinforces priorities in the plan of care.
• Encourages self-care and independence as appropriate as defined by Department Specific Addendum.
• Identifies normal and abnormal mental function and demonstrates skills for addressing the needs and behaviors of the cognitively impaired.
• Cares for and maintains client’s environment by avoiding environmental hazards, using restraints properly, and consistently using infection control procedures and barriers.
• Recognizes abnormal signs and symptoms of common disease conditions and communicates accurately and with timeliness.
• Provides and maintains basic nutrition and oral fluid intake.
• Recognizes emergencies and responds demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Completes documentation according to guidelines.

Competency

Demonstrates knowledge of statutes and regulations and functions within the legal boundaries of certified nursing assistant practice.

Achieves And Maintains Clinical Competency By

• Maintaining current certification.
• Performing acts within the authorized scope of practice for which certified.
• Demonstrating on-going competency in performance of technical skills.
