Job summary

All American Assisted Living at Washington Township is seeking a dedicated CNA/PCA to provide compassionate personal care to residents in a New Jersey community setting.

You will assist with activities of daily living, mobility, dining, and social engagement while following individualized care plans and infection-control procedures.

The role emphasizes dignity, independence, and high-quality resident interactions within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, respectful personal care to residents.

  • Assist with walking, mobility, positioning, and transfers per service plans.
  • Safely use mobility equipment after training and competency validation.
  • Provide meal assistance and dining support as needed.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support; encourage participation in meals and activities.
  • Promptly report changes to licensed staff and follow care plans and safety procedures.
  • Document care accurately and maintain clean, safe living areas.
  • Complete required orientation, training, and competency reviews.

What You'll Do
  • Provide warm, respectful, and compassionate personal care to residents
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and personal hygiene
  • Assist residents with walking, mobility, positioning, and transfers according to their service plans
  • Safely use approved mobility equipment and mechanical lifts after completing required training and demonstrating competency
  • Provide meal assistance and support residents with dining needs when required
  • Offer companionship, reassurance, conversation, and emotional support
  • Encourage residents to participate in meals, programs, and community activities
  • Respond promptly to resident requests and emergency-call systems
  • Observe residents for changes in physical condition, behavior, cognition, mood, appetite, mobility, or daily routine
  • Promptly report changes or concerns to the licensed nurse or appropriate supervisor
  • Follow individualized resident service plans, care instructions, and safety procedures
  • Obtain and document vital signs only when trained, determined competent, and assigned to do so
  • Document personal care and services accurately and promptly
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident living areas
  • Assist with personal laundry and light resident-area housekeeping as assigned
  • Promote resident engagement, independence, dignity, choice, and personal preferences
  • Protect resident privacy, rights, personal information, and confidentiality
  • Communicate respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and team members
  • Follow infection-control, resident-safety, emergency, and fall-prevention procedures
  • Participate in required orientation, training, competency reviews, meetings, and in-service education
  • Complete additional resident-care duties permitted by the employee’s certification, training, competency, and assigned role
What We're Looking For
  • Current New Jersey Certified Nursing Assistant or Personal Care Assistant certification, or eligibility to obtain the certification required for the position
  • Certification must remain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable approach to resident care
  • Genuine interest in working with older adults
  • Ability to treat residents with dignity, respect, and kindness
  • Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow service plans, policies, safety procedures, and nursing direction
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally and in writing, as required to understand care instructions, document services, report changes in resident condition, and respond during emergencies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a Wellness team
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Previous assisted living, memory care, senior care, home care, or healthcare experience is preferred
  • Previous experience assisting with activities of daily living is preferred
  • Experience supporting residents with dementia or memory impairment is preferred
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic documentation
  • Current CPR or first-aid certification, if required by the community
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and remain active throughout the workday
  • Ability to safely lift, transfer, push, or pull up to (physical requirement) pounds with assistance or available equipment
  • Ability to successfully complete required criminal background checks, fingerprinting, health screenings, training, and employment requirements
New Jersey Certification Requirements
  • Candidates must hold or obtain the New Jersey certification required for the assigned CNA or PCA position
  • CNA and PCA certifications must remain current and in good standing
  • Employees must maintain required criminal-background clearance and certification-renewal requirements
  • Employees may only perform duties permitted by their certification, completed training, demonstrated competency, resident service plan, nursing direction, and community procedures
  • Employees must promptly report changes in resident condition and situations requiring nursing judgment
  • Employees may not independently perform nursing assessments, develop nursing care plans, provide nursing diagnoses, or perform duties reserved for licensed nurses
  • Vital signs and other health-related tasks may only be performed after appropriate training, competency verification, and assignment
  • Medication administration is not automatically included in this position
  • Employees who administer medications must hold a current New Jersey Certified Medication Aide credential and perform medication duties only when delegated and supervised as required
