Position Overview

Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under supervision in inpatient, outpatient, or home settings.

Responsibilities include:

1. Assisting patients with personal care and basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN.
2. Recording patient data such as vital signs and measurements.
3. Reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
4. Supporting patient hygiene, ADLs, and mobility.
5. Obtaining and forwarding diagnostic specimens.
6. Documenting care activities and assisting with examinations and procedures.
7. Maintaining a safe environment and reporting hazards or incidents.
8. Completing administrative tasks like record keeping and supply management.
9. Participating in ongoing training and professional development.

Position Details

Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 hourly

Minimum Requirements

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA):

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified CNA through Virginia Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Nurse Assistant:

• High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide program or Fundamentals of Nursing course.
• Certification as CNA in Virginia within 4 months of hire or student nurse with relevant coursework.
• BLS certification.

Patient Care Technician (PCT):

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Proof of completion of UVa PCT program or another approved program, or relevant experience or certification.
• BLS certification.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent bending, lifting 20-50 lbs, and exposure to chemicals and biological hazards.
