Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and transport students to medical appointments and report findings to nursing staff.
  • File records, order supplies, and provide health education to students.
  • Administer medications as needed and teach healthy lifestyle habits.

Job description

The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence is located on thirty-eight acres of property in beautiful Thompson, CT. Thompson is centrally located, 25 minutes south of Worcester, MA and 40 minutes west of Providence, RI. The program serves 33 adolescents with developmental disabilities who range in age from 10-21.

Our program specializes in working with youth who have experienced complex trauma. Our clinical model is grounded in a trauma informed framework called ARC. Ongoing professional development opportunities are available agency wide in a variety of human services topics. This is an excellent opportunity to further your skills and career with a rewarding and complex population.

We are currently looking for a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) to join our team. In this position, your responsibilities will include scheduling and transporting student’s to medical appointments, reporting appointment findings to the nursing team, filing, ordering supplies, providing health education and teaching children about healthy lifestyle habits, and administer medication as needed.

Requirements
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Currently certified as a CT CNA.
  • Ability to obtain CT DCF medication administration certification.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Ability to be certified in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid.
  • Ability to be certified in Building Communities of Care (verbal de-escalation and physical intervention).
  • Experience in a mental health, residential or medical setting with adolescents preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft computer systems and Internet capabilities.
  • Maintains valid driver's license.

  • Background and driving record checkswill be performed.
