Job summary

Majestic Care is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our South Bend team. This role provides direct hands-on nursing care to residents, supports ADLs, and helps residents achieve the highest possible level of functioning within a compassionate community setting.

The CNA will respond to call lights, assist with admissions and transfers, and maintain safety and privacy while delivering quality care in a respectful environment.

Qualifications

• Must be certified and state-tested as a CNA in the state employed; certificate active, valid, and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and daily nursing tasks.
• Respond to residents call lights to ensure comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair within the community (dining room, lobby, activities).
• Report significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to ease transitions.
• Safekeep residents' personal possessions and keep rooms neat and safe.
• Follow infection control techniques and respect privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach residents to perform ADL skills and provide restorative care to prevent complications.

Position Overview

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands‑on nursing care to ambulatory and non‑ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of residents’ personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
• Re‑teach resident to perform ADL skills.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow‑up occurs.
• Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.
• Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.

Qualifications

• Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
