Job summary

Majestic Care of Fort Wayne is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team and provide direct hands-on nursing care for ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents daily.

You will work under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to help residents achieve the highest possible level of functioning and quality of life within a compassionate, patient-centered setting.

Qualifications

• Active CNA certification in the state of employment.
• Ability to assist residents with ADLs and mobility.
• Commitment to resident privacy and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and daily care tasks.
• Respond to call lights to ensure comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Transport residents as needed within the community.
• Report significant observations to nurses promptly.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge for smooth transitions.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of resident rooms and belongings.
• Provide basic restorative care to prevent complications.
• Support residents and families during adjustment to the community.

Position Overview:

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of residents' personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach resident to perform ADL skills.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs.
• Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.
• Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.

Qualifications:

• Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
