Role Overview

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential care and support to residents, assisting with daily activities such as hygiene, meals, mobility, and comfort. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, documenting care activities, and reporting observations to nursing supervisors. CNAs ensure residents' privacy and dignity while adhering to HIPAA, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. They contribute to a safe environment, participate in educational opportunities to maintain certification, and perform other duties as assigned to ensure residents' health, welfare, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform all functions under your active license or certification and within your scope of duties.
• Know the residents you serve, providing care based on their care plans.
• Assist in all aspects of daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
• Communicate appropriately with clinical leadership when residents' needs change.
• Approach and care for residents with dementia.
• Willing to take on other duties within your knowledge and experience scope.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license or certification in good standing.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Willingness to undertake additional training or education as required by state.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Flexible and adaptable with multiple priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking regularly, and lifting/moving up to 100 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities must be sufficient for communication. The noise level is usually moderate. Must be able to perform duties throughout the scheduled shift.
